About The Smith and Taylor Families of Washington County, Fla.
The core family research on this site revolves around two families. The first is William Washington and Nancy Jane (Taylor)Smith; the second Stephen J. and Sally Elizibeth (Miller) Taylor, my grandparents.

When I first began this search I was merely looking for my direct ancestors. As my research has progressed, I have begun to develop branch lines and interact with very distant kin. This is proving to be very interesting indeed! So the people you will find may not be direct ancestors, but lines I have found interesting to follow. Most of the families are rooted in and around Washington County, Florida. Some were there when Florida attained statehood. Many migrated from the Carolinas, to Georgia, Alabama, and on to Florida by the time of the War Between the States.

Now, as to the quality of the data. Much of the data is oral family history. Much has been gleaned from internet sources. Where I am sure of a fact, I have documented it. I have a lot of documentation still to be entered but am working diligently. Please!!! If you find missing documentation such as a birth, death, or marriage record, bible entry, obituary, etc, I would be most interested in having an email copy. Pictures of people listed in the data would be priceless. If you have a line that I have not covered sufficiently, send me what data you have and I will add it to the pot. Thanks for all your help.
